japanese aesthetic: convergence from afar

 

this is my bachelor thesis about japanese aesthetic.
i wrote and designed this book, to show the results i compiled about japanese aesthetic concepts.
therefor, i analyzed japanese posters on the basis of these concepts, which exist in japan.

the paper has a very smooth feeling and a touch of yellow in it.

it’s bound with the japanese binding technique.

at the beginning, there is a chapter about the origins of japanese design.

later, i introduce 10 japanese aesthetic concepts i analysed.

here are a few of the 251 japanese posters i analyzed.

i found formal and situational criterias für each concept.

based on the criterias i found, i analyzed the posters and seperated them into the different aesthetic concepts.

when i ended my analysis, i began to design my own posters with the help of my results.
